Supporting Teens Through Loss, Divorce, and Life Transitions
Is Your Teen Struggling?
Has your child been acting withdrawn, anxious, or overwhelmed by emotions after a major life change?
Are they struggling to express their feelings or adjust to the pressures of academics and social groups?
Do you notice them acting out, seeming more angry than usual, or staying in and isolating?
When children or young adults are struggling, it can deeply affect their sense of security, identity, and self-worth. Whether they’re dealing with problems at home or at school, these challenges can lead to feelings of inadequacy and confusion about their place in the world.
If your child or teen seems lost in their feelings or unable to cope with these major changes, they’re not alone—and support is available to help them rebuild their confidence and sense of self-worth.
Therapy Can Help Your Teen Heal and Rebuild Self-Worth Through compassionate, trauma-informed therapy, we help young adults regain a sense of self-trust and connection after experiencing loss, social problems, or family transitions. Our approach focuses not only on healing emotional wounds but also on rebuilding your child’s belief in their own value and strength.
In therapy, we will:
• Process difficult emotions: We’ll explore the root causes of their sadness, anxiety, or confusion, helping them understand their feelings and feel less overwhelmed.
• Rebuild their self-worth: Through age-appropriate activities and therapeutic techniques, we’ll work together to help your teen see their inherent value and importance, reinforcing their sense of belonging and confidence.
• Develop healthy coping strategies: We provide tools to help your child manage their emotions and rebuild emotional resilience, allowing them to feel more in control of their world.
By giving them a space to express their experiences and building up their self-worth, we can help them heal and move forward with greater confidence and emotional stability.
Common Concerns About Therapy for Your Child
Will the therapist influence my child negatively?
We work in concert with parents to create a treatment plan that fits your family and culture. While it’s important for your teen to have a private and safe place to talk openly with their therapist, we let the kids and the parents know that safety is our top priority, and that some of the healing is done in the office, but the bulk is done at home, with their family. Because of that, we often invite parents in to collaborate in therapy.
Why Work With Us?
We have years of experience and extensive trainings in family systems work, trauma-informed modalities, working with teens, and approaches to grief and loss. This allows us to craft a unique approach that works equally well for young teens and young adults; for quiet, withdrawn kids and outgoing chatters; and for multiple cultures and identity groups.
